    Installation & Setup:

    Watchdog System Components:

There are 3 components that make up the complete system, the Dogpound Server, the Watchdog Submission Client, and the RenderDog Command Processing Client. The core of the system is the Dogpound Server which handles all distribution management of submitted tasks. The RenderDog Command Processing Client resides on each render node and launched once per processor creating a separate application space for each processing task. The Watchdog Submission Client is launched on each workstation and provides the interface for submitting, monitoring, and managing jobs.

    Component Installation:

The easiest method of installation is to place the Dogpound, Watchdog, and RenderDog folders in a central location on the network and create a shortcut to the executable from the appropriate computer. Watchdog should be launched from a workstation, and RenderDog will be launched once for each processor on each render node by the RPC. On a dual processor render node, the first instance of RenderDog will be labeled Client_A and the second Client_B.

    Required Directory Mapping :

Each computer that is running a component of the Watchdog system needs to have the file server(s) where the scene files reside and the location Dogpound Log Files Location mapped identically. For example, if the Dogpound server sees the Log Files Location as "F:\ENG\Logs", then all machines in the system must recognize "F:\ENG\Logs" as the same network location.

    Required DLLs:

In addition to the executables, the dll's mfc71.dll and msvcr71.dll need to be installed on each computer running one of the Watchdog System components. These should be installed into the C:\windows\system32 directory if they don't already exist.

    HASP:

The Watchdog system implements the use of a HASP hardware key as it's primary source of software protection. The HASP software driver is the last component that needs to be installed on the computer that will be running the Dogpound Server before starting the system. Both the command line (hinstall.zip) and GUI (HDD32.exe) versions of the HASP driver installer are available. Once installed plug the HASP key that was supplied into the USB port.
